Costa Mesa, CA—The Department of Defense Military Support Program “America Supports You” and Orange County Non-Profit Military “Project Prayer Flag” will join forces and celebrate a “Patriot Party” on Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.  “America Supports You” is a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense and recognizes citizens' support for our military men and women. Hundreds of volunteers from Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties will gather and package "Patriot Packs", which consist of an American cloth pocket flag and thank you cards. The packs will be sent by the thousands to U.S. service members in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Project Prayer Flag is a grass-roots non-profit military support organization which places American pocket flags and provides support services for the U.S. Military and their families. The project began in 2002, when husband and wife team Shawn and Angelica Black of Orange County, California, began giving American pocket flags to those departing for deployments in the global War on terrorism. To date they have given over 500,000 "Patriot Packs", packages, and related support to service members and their families.
