Dear Troop,

I hope this card brings a smile to your heart as you’re far, far from green pastures and quiet streams. But close your eyes and let the Lord soothe your spirit with His promises.
Thank you for your Service and Sacrifice. Believe me, a Grateful nation cherishes you!

I pray the Lord will be a Shield around you (Psalm 3:3) and when evil men, enemies and foes attack you, they will stumble and fall. (Psalm 27:2)

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sydney B. Corbett

Letters From Our Troops

Angelica,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the gift box, flags, your prayers and support.  Your gifts come as a nice and very welcome surprise.  Your support to the deployed Marines is kind and thoughtful.  Knowing that patriotic Americans are behind the Marines regardless of political persuasions is very reassuring.  The Marines of H&S company, BLT 1/2 will proudly display the flags you have provided for them.  Our deployment is starting to slow down and knowing that many Americans are waiting to welcome us home is comforting.

The coffee was also very well received!  I am sure you remember what field coffee tastes like.  My Company GySgt makes what he calls coffee.....I use it to clean my weapon and remove rust from the vehicles. One of my Platoon Commanders is combat dead lined until he has consumed half is weight in coffee in the morning, your coffee will keep us rolling for a few more weeks.  I very much enjoyed the nuts and fruit.  (I am from California, fruits and nuts are my favorite).  ;)  -ha,ha.

I am originally from La Verne, California, I attended college at Claremont McKenna College.  I spent my four year enlistment at Camp Pendleton, and the first 5 years as an officer there as well.  My wife is a Marine, she is a Captain as well and a logistician by trade.  We are currently serving our sentence in Camp Lejeune,  North Carolina.  With time off for good behavior we should be back in Camp Pendleton in three years, 2 months, 1 week, 3 days and 12 hours.

I read in the news article you sent, that a Calvary Chapel in Coasta Mesa is assisting in your efforts.  Is that Chuck Smiths church? (he has a great singing voice, eh!)  I attended Harvest Christian fellowship, and Raul Reese's church in golden springs, growing up I spent many Christmas eve's at the Church in Costa Mesa.  I am happy to hear that Calvary Chapel is with you in the efforts to support the Marines. What a large, yet small community the Calvary Chapel's are.  Raul was a Marine you know.........3rd Marines I think.

Well I better wrap this up.  My 1stSgt wants to have a meeting or something.  I guess I better attend.......  Thank you again for your prayers and support.  It is always good to hear from a former Marine.  Best of luck to you and your husband in all of you endeavors.

God Bless,
Capt Dane Hanson

Dear Shawn and Angelica,

Thank you so much for the work you have done for our troops.  I am a junior high teacher at Calvary School Westminster.  My homeroom class adopted one of the
Marines in November.  We sent a package with Christmas notes and little goodies.  I had selected a name of a Marine who had a Hispanic last name.  I
wrote him Christmas cards in English and Spanish.  In edition, I offered him the opportunity to write to the students care of the school address.  I cried
with joy when 2 months later, we received a letter from him.  He had addressed each of the students personally.  Since then, we have been sending letters back
and forth.  Recently, I received a DVD from him to show to the students where he talked to them a little about his life.  It has been an amazing, wonderful
friendship that has formed between a Marine in Iraq and a small group of 6th grade students.  Personally, I have been also blessed.  Thank you for allowing
us this opportunity of getting to know a great guy.  He has become our hero in more ways than one.  May the Lord continue to bless this ministry.

In Christ,
Sarah Ternes
